A South Bend resident was arrested at midday on multiple charges in Marshall County. On Wednesday, July 10th, a Marshall County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Deputy conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle near U.S. 31 and State Road 110.
The stop, which took place around 2:30 in the afternoon, found 49-year-old Corey Dawson of South Bend as the vehicle’s driver.
When the deputy stopped the vehicle, it was found that Dawson was driving while suspended with a prior conviction. Making matters worse, suspected drugs and paraphernalia were found on Dawson’s person. More drugs and paraphernalia were found on the passenger’s person, and inside of the vehicle.
Dawson was transported to Marshall County Jail by the Sheriff’s Department, where Corey was booked for driving while suspended with a prior conviction, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia. Dawson was held on a $500 cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
