Solar Opportunities Indiana: Visualizing Statewide Investment At Risk

Solar Opportunities Indiana funding was designed to bring real relief to Hoosier families struggling with rising utility bills. The program is now at risk of being permanently rolled back.

Solar projects are underway in Indianapolis, Gary, Columbus, and Fort Wayne, with additional investments planned in South Bend, Jeffersonville, Terre Haute, and beyond. Nearly $42 million from Indiana’s $117 million federal award has been designated for projects like microgrids, resiliency hubs, rural library partnerships, and workforce development—initiatives that support both urban and rural communities.

Today, Solar Opportunities Indiana released a map showing planned investments across Indiana:

“These projects are not speculative,” said Alison Becker, Program Director for Solar Opportunities Indiana. “Local partners have spent months planning and starting projects that will bring down energy costs for low-income Hoosier families. The grants represent real relief at exactly the right time, when some Indiana families are paying as much as $50 more each month for electricity than they were just one year ago.”

“Solar for All” Investments by Indiana Congressional District:

• CD-01: $32.5 million

• CD-02: $3 million

• CD-03: $12.6 million

• CD-06: $8.3 million

• CD-07: $2.8 million

• CD-08: $3 million

• CD-09: $3 million

“‘Solar for All’ grants represent a bipartisan promise to deliver reliable, less expensive energy to those who need it most. That promise must be kept—for families, for communities and for Indiana’s future,” Becker said.
