The Shelby County International Relations Council (SCIRC) in partnership with the City of Shelbyville is accepting student applications for the 2026 summer Sister City trip to Japan
The Sister City partnership is over 35 years strong and is an exciting opportunity for students in grades 8-12 in Shelby County. The 2026 student trip is planned for mid June and will be approximately one week with a homestay experience in Shizuoka City / Kambara as well as a few days in Tokyo.
Links for the student application and required forms can be found on the homepage of the City’s website at www.shelbyville.in.gov/sistercity. Applications should be submitted by December 22, 2025 along with a $250.00 deposit.
Students and parents who are interested in learning more about the Sister City program and the 2026 summer trip should plan to attend an information meeting on Sunday, November 30th at City Hall in the Council Chambers at 6:30 p.m.
