A semi driver was airlifted to the hospital Wednesday morning after a three-vehicle crash in the westbound lanes of U.S. 30 at Oak Drive.
According to the Plymouth Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday, September 22nd. The preliminary investigation by Corporal Ben McIntyre determined that Travis D. MacLain, 30, from Rochester, was stopped at the westbound stoplight in a 2008 Cadillac STS. Kostadin G. Vasilev, 46, from Ohio, was also stopped at the stoplight in a 2019 Volvo semi.
Sherbie M. Reyes, 47, from New Jersery, traveling westbound in a 2027 Mack semi, failed to stop for the red light and struck the rear of the Volvo semi, which was then propelled into MacLain's Cadillac.
After nearly an hour, Reyes was extricated from his semi and airlifted to Memorial Hospital for his injuries. No injuries were reported by the other drivers.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Plymouth Police Department, Plymouth Fire and EMS, Marshall County Sheriff's Department, Indiana State Police, Indiana Department of Environmental Management, Reichert and Knepp Wrecker Service, and Lutheran Air.
