School is back in session in Shelbyville on Aug. 6.
To prepare for opening day, Shelbyville Central Schools is offering help sessions to get registration complete and students comfortable with their 2025-2026 school year learning environment.
Back to school registration help sessions are Monday and Tuesday at Shelbyville Middle School, 1200 W. McKay Road (photo), from noon to 7 p.m. This is for student registration at the Golden Bear Preschool, Loper Elementary, Hendricks Elementary, Coulston Elementary, Shelbyville Middle School and Shelbyville High School.

This back-to-school event also offers the opportunity to receive free backpacks and trapper keepers, kids' shoes, free haircuts, new socks, dental care, gently used hoodies and coats as well as resources from other local organizations.
Returning students can register online at scs.shelbycs.org.
Elementary school Meet the Teacher Night is Aug. 4 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Loper, Hendricks and Coulston. This is for all incoming kindergarten through fifth-grade students.
