Scott to run for Shelby County Council in District 3

Sean Scott, Democratic candidate for County Council 3rd District. 

He was the first candidate to file Wednesday morning.

Scott was born in Shelbyville, on June 14, 1970. He lived there until the age of five, when he moved to Jeffersonville, Indiana, with his mother. He grew up in Jeffersonville and graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1988. Following graduation, he joined the United States Army, where he spent two years as a 13Bravo Cannon Crewman and three years as a 95Bravo Military Policeman. During his military service, he was stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma; Germany; Ft. McClellan, Alabama; Ft. Lewis, Washington; and Panama.

After being honorably discharged from the Army, Scott returned to Jeffersonville and began working for United Parcel Service (UPS) in Louisville, Kentucky. He worked for UPS for three years in the United States before moving back to Germany, where he continued his career with the company for an additional two years. In 1998, he returned to the United States and moved to Franklin, Indiana, working at Arvin Kayaba until 2003.

In 2003, he moved to Indianapolis and began a ten-year tenure at Eli Lilly & Company as a Sr. Specialist in Quality Assurance. Following his time there, he worked for FedEx for three years. In 2016, he returned to his birthplace of Shelbyville and began working at Knauf Inc., where he is currently employed as a Quality Control Associate.

In addition to his professional role at Knauf, he is an active member of the United Steelworkers Union Local 32M and serves as a Trustee. In his free time, he enjoys visiting the YMCA, going to Kings Island, and supporting the Indiana Pacers.

Having been shaped by the community of Shelbyville, he looks forward to the opportunity to give back by serving the county and city to the best of his ability every day. He is deeply committed to ensuring that Shelby County citizens are fairly represented in county issues and remains a steadfast supporter of the working class and labor unions.
