Riverton Parke's Sanders becomes winningest coach

Over the last nine years, there have been plenty of wins and losses, impressions made on the lives of young student athletes, but through it all, there has been Brad Sanders.

The Riverton Parke High School football coach has been a consistent and constant cog in the wheel for the Panthers, and it paid off nicely last week. With a 33-13 win over Cloverdale, Sanders became the all time wins leader in Riverton Parke history with 35 ahead of this Friday's road clash at Edinburgh. 

"It has been a combined effort of a lot of people over the years. We started this journey back when my oldest son was in the second or third grade and that was when we first started the youth program. I've been fortunate to be around a lot of good people, good coaches along the way and the end of the day, it is about the kids. You can't win games without the kids," Sanders told The Parke County Post. 

Coach Sanders spoke with Paul Gable on GIANT fm Sports Out of Bounds on Monday night.

Sanders said the wins and losses are important, but the thing stands out is the impact he's been able to have on his players over the years.

"That's what it's really about. We take pride in doing that. I have had a lot of really good kids over the years, and we try to stay in touch with them. It is neat to watch them all become successful men, start families and we talk about that a lot. I have had a lot of kids go on who have done really well for themselves reach out and thank us. It is nice," Sanders said.
