The Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office announced after a three-day trial last week, a jury of 12 Marshall County residents convicted Michael T. Rex, of Argos.
Rex was charged with four felony counts of Child Molesting, ranging from Level 1 to Level 4, and four felony counts of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, ranging from Level 4 to Level 5. Rex was convicted on one count of Level 4 Felony Child Molesting and one count of Level 5 Felony Sexual Misconduct with a Minor.
Rex, now 26 years old, was charged in 2024 after a 14-year-old child disclosed a sexual relationship between the two, spanning approximately two years.
This case was prosecuted by Deputies Elizabeth Boehm and Ashley Lowe of the Marshall County Prosecutor's Office. Judge Tami Napier of Marshall Superior Court 1 presided over the trial. Assistant Chief Bradley Howe of the Argos Police Department led the investigation.
Rex will be sentenced on Nov. 18 in Marshall Superior Court 1.
Level 5 felonies carry a potential penalty of 1 to 6 years in the Department of Corrections, while Level 4 Felonies carry a potential penalty of 2 to 12 years in the Department of Corrections.
