Reps. Jordan and Teshka encourage local students to apply for House Republican Internship

State Representatives Jack Jordan (R-Bremen) and Jake Teshka (R-North Liberty) are encouraging local students to apply for the Indiana House Republican Internship Program for the 2027 legislative session.

The paid, full-time internship is open to college students, recent graduates, and students in law or graduate school. Interns work at the Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis Monday through Friday from January through April during the legislative session.

"Interns work in a variety of positions and are paired with a staff member and group of lawmakers during the legislative session," Jordan said. "From covering committee hearings and press conferences to researching bills and assisting constituents, each day at the Statehouse is different and offers a valuable experience."

Teshka, himself a former Statehouse intern, said the program offers students a unique opportunity to play a meaningful role in state government.

"As a former intern at the Statehouse, I can confidently say it shaped my career and passion for public service," Teshka said. "This is truly a one-of-a-kind experience where students can play a meaningful role in their state government."

Positions are available in legislative operations, policy, and communications. The spring semester internship gives students opportunities to interact with state legislators, state agencies, and private sector organizations, as well as participate in a weekly speaker series featuring Indiana civic leaders.
