Deputies responded to a burglary report on Harbison Road on Nov. 18, where numerous items had been stolen from a home. Later that evening, the residence was targeted again. During this second burglary, the suspect stole a vehicle from the garage and attempted to flee the area.
Deputies quickly located the stolen vehicle nearby and initiated a traffic stop, taking 50-year-old Amber M. Butcher of Cayuga into custody. After some investigation, a second suspect, 47-year-old Travis D. Butcher of Cayuga, was identified and subsequently arrested by Vermillion County Deputies.
A search warrant executed at the Butchers’ residence in Cayuga led to the recovery of many stolen items, including the vehicle. The recovered property has since been returned to the owners. Amber and Travis Butcher are being held at the Parke County Jail on charges of burglary, theft, and auto theft.
