Watch the first movie shown at The REES when it opened in 1940. The Seasoned Citizens Matinee on Wednesday at 2 p.m. is “Remember the Night,” starring Fred MacMurray and Barbara Stanwyk.
Moved to pity by the Christmas season, New York District Attorney John Sargent (MacMurray) lets pretty shoplifter Lee Leander (Stanwyck) out on bail and offers her a ride home to Indiana. Along the way, they have a run-in with a Pennsylvania sheriff, meet each other's parents, and eventually fall in love. John's mother, however, disapproves and warns Lee to stay away lest she damage John's career.
Adult tickets are $5, and those 55 and over receive a complimentary popcorn and soft drink. Tickets are available online at reestheatre.org; in-person at Na Rie Simple Treasures, 104 N. Michigan Street, and at The REES box office 45 minutes before the show.
