Recycle Depot to host FREE Tire Disposal Day October 3rd thanks to $10,000 state grant

Marshall County residents will have the opportunity to dispose of waste tires free of charge this fall, thanks to a $10,000 grant awarded to the Marshall County Solid Waste Management District by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.

The funds will be used to host a Tire Amnesty Day on Friday, October 3rd, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Recycle Depot, 1900 Walter Glaub Drive in Plymouth.

The event is open to all Marshall County residents who need to dispose of passenger car, light truck, and SUV tires. Residents may bring up to 10 tires per drop-off at no charge with proof of county residency. Tires must be in one piece and off the rim to be accepted.

Organizers note that the amnesty event is intended for households with waste tires or tires from a county dump site — not for commercial entities, fleet vehicles, or farm equipment. The Recycle Depot will not accept out-of-county tires or commercial, business, or tractor tires at this event. Residents who have larger-sized tires or more than 20 tires to dispose of are encouraged to contact Liberty Tire Recycling in North Liberty at 574-656-3429.

For those who miss the October 3rd event, the Recycle Depot accepts car and light-truck tires year-round during regular business hours for $5 per tire, with a limit of 5 tires per visit.
