According to Karla Mapes, President and CEO of REAL Services, “This year has been one of the most challenging in the history of REAL Services. REAL Services has faced change on many fronts: shifting funding streams, rising costs, and an unprecedented demand for our programs.” She went on to say, “Families who never imagined needing help are turning to us. Older adults depend on REAL Services for meals, care, and hope in record numbers. The truth is stark: without immediate and ongoing support, many of the essential services we provide through REAL Services are at risk.”
Amid these challenges, generosity remains a vital lifeline for REAL Services. Every gift makes a difference — whether it helps a neighbor get a hot meal instead of going hungry, provides a caregiver with a moment of relief instead of burnout, or helps an isolated older adult find connection instead of slipping further into despair.
Mapes said they cannot soften the reality that their government funding is uncertain and, in some cases, shrinking even though the needs are growing. This fall, as REAL Services prepares for the colder months ahead, the gap between what they have and what is required to serve the community has never been wider.
Because of the increased need and uncertainty about government support, REAL Services is asking—simply and urgently—for your ongoing contributions. Your giving is not just helpful; it is essential. Together, we can make sure that no one is left behind. But we cannot do this without you.
