Purdue Extension will host two workshops focused on food preservation that individuals can attend to learn more about preserving food safely at home.
The first workshop will be on November 18, from 10:00 to 3:00 PM at Purdue Extension in Fulton County. The day's topic will be “Boiling Water Bath Canning” and will focus on making jams and jellies. The workshop will feature a lecture, hands-on practice with equipment, and a take-home product made that day. Individuals will learn how to use boiling water bath canning equipment, the safety of canning, and be able to ask questions. The workshop costs $30, and seats are limited to the first 8 participants. Register by November 12th.
The second workshop will be hosted at the Argos United Methodist Church, covering “Pressure Canning” meats. This workshop will be held on November 22nd from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The workshop will feature a lecture, hands-on practice with equipment, and a take-home product made that day. Individuals will learn how to use a pressure canner to preserve food and discuss food safety. This workshop costs $30, and registration is due by November 14th.
