A Brazil man found himself behind bars in the Putnam County Jail for his role in a hit and run recently along U.S. 40.
According to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, Luke Childs, 37, Brazil, was arrested and charged with a Level 6 felony count of leaving the scene of an accident causing injury.
On June 6, deputies responded to a call of a hit and run crash that occurred along U.S. 40 near Apple Blossom Drive. Upon arrival, deputies and EMS found a victim alongside the road with severe injuries. The victim was riding his three wheel bicycle when a vehicle struck him from behind and fled the scene. The victim was transported to a hospital in Indianapolis.
After talking with witnesses and neighbors and a flock camera system, deputies were able to pinpoint that Childs was the suspect.
