Brenda Figueroa-Diaz, 35, of the 400 block of West Washington Street in Plymouth, was pulled over for a registration violation by a city officer on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Michigan and Adams Streets.

During Corporal McIntyre’s investigation, he determined that the temporary license plate on the car she was driving was fraudulent. Furthermore, the officer found that Diaz did not have a valid license, nor had she ever received one, and she was also in possession of a fraudulent Illinois ID card.

Brenda Figueroa-Diaz was taken into custody without incident, transported to the Marshall County Jail, and booked in for forgery-possession of false government ID, operating without ever obtaining a license, and possession of a fraudulent license plate.

She was booked in at 11:37 a.m. Wednesday and released on a cash bond at 3:38 p.m. the same day.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
