A 16-year-old Plymouth boy suffered severe injuries Sunday morning after losing control of a vehicle and striking a utility pole and tree in the 13000 block of 12th Road.
Marshall County Central Dispatch received a 911 call just before 8:30 a.m. reporting a personal injury accident at that location. Deputies with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department arrived and determined that the driver was operating a 2023 Chevrolet Traverse eastbound on 12th Road when, for reasons that remain under investigation, he lost control of the vehicle. The Traverse left the south side of the roadway and struck a utility pole and a tree before coming to rest.
The driver suffered severe injuries in the crash and was transported from the scene by Plymouth EMS for treatment at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. He has been transferred to an Indianapolis hospital.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by the Plymouth Police Department and Plymouth Fire and EMS.
