Plymouth School Board meeting Tuesday, executive session, appropriations hearing for bonds and termination of football coach

The Plymouth Community School Board will convene for a series of important sessions this Tuesday evening, December 2, including an executive session, a public hearing on additional appropriations, and its regular monthly meeting.

The Board will hold an executive session for the purpose of training school board members with an outside consultant. This training will focus on the performance of their roles as public officials.

The second preliminary determination project additional appropriations hearing is to issue bonds in an amount not to exceed $7,140,000 for improvements to school buildings and grounds.  Improvements include HVAC, roofing projects, window replacements, new carpeting, security improvements, new furniture and computer equipment, buses, lighting improvements, athletic facility improvements, including gyms and field improvements, along with parking lot and sidewalk improvements.   

The public will have an opportunity to ask questions and make comments at the additional appropriations hearing.

The regular school board meeting will immediately follow, and the Plymouth School Board will consider the termination of four:   

• Adam Handley, the PHS, Football Head Coach, with a termination effective date of 11-10-25
• Ethan Starke, LEC, Adult Education Computer Instructor, with a termination effective date of 11-05-25
• Desiree Felke, LEC, Adult Education Substitute Instructor, with a termination effective date of 11-05-25 and
• Cheryl McKinley, LEC Adult Education Data Entry / Aide, with a termination effective date of 11-11-25.

Superintendent Mitch Mawhorter will present a proposal for architecture and engineering services for multiple 2026 renovation projects for the corporation.  The estimated total hard cost budget is $3,497,228, along with proposed A & E fees of $209,000.

The agenda also includes consideration of a memorandum of understanding with Samm Woners, new and revised policies and guidelines on first reading, and setting the meeting date and time for the first meeting in 2026.

This meeting is a meeting of the Plymouth School Board in public for the purpose of conducting the school corporation's business and is not to be considered a public community meeting. There will be time for public participation as indicated by the agenda.
