Plymouth Police make two OWI arrests in consecutive days

Plymouth Police conducted two separate traffic stops last week that resulted in arrests for operating while intoxicated, according to reports from the Plymouth Police Department.

The first incident occurred Thursday evening, February 12th, at approximately 9:45 p.m., when Corporal Schieber conducted a traffic stop on Walnut Street near Jackson Street for an equipment violation. During the stop, the officer identified signs of impairment from the vehicle's operator, 53-year-old Jose Rivera-Isaula of Plymouth.

Police obtained a search warrant after Rivera-Isaula was believed to be impaired and under the influence of alcohol and cocaine. Following the execution of the search warrant and chemical testing, Rivera-Isaula was taken into custody and lodged at the Marshall County Jail. He faces preliminary criminal charges of operating while intoxicated with a controlled substance and operating while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content over .08%.

The following afternoon, Friday, February 13th, at approximately 4 p.m., Corporal Schieber conducted another traffic stop at Michigan and Parkview Streets after the officer determined the driver was operating with a suspended license. The driver, Kevin Cole, 43, of Walkerton, showed signs of impairment but refused to perform field sobriety testing and declined a chemical test.

Police obtained a signed search warrant, and the chemical test was subsequently performed. Cole was lodged in the Marshall County Jail and faces charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated on a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
