Plymouth Police arrest 2 in separate incidents Monday & Tuesday

Officers with the Plymouth Police Department made two arrests over consecutive days this week, one stemming from an active out-of-county warrant and the other following a routine traffic stop.

On Monday, August 3rd, at 2:20 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the Marshall County Probation Department, where Mario Silva, 20, of LaPaz, was taken into custody without incident. Silva had an active arrest warrant out of Elkhart County. He was lodged in the Marshall County Jail on the warrant.

The following afternoon, on Tuesday, August 4th, at 2:30 p.m., Officer Krynock stopped a vehicle at U.S. 31 and 11th Road for a traffic infraction. The driver, Pedro Garcia-Melendez of Indianapolis, was found to have a driver's license status of suspended with a prior suspension. He was lodged at the Marshall County Jail on a $500 cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
