A Plymouth man faces a theft charge following an investigation into multiple incidents at Walmart over several months.
A Plymouth Police officer located Amir Morales, 21, of Plymouth, at approximately 11:25 a.m. Friday, January 8, while conducting a theft investigation.
During the investigation, officers determined that Morales had allegedly been committing thefts from the Plymouth Walmart over a period of several months.
The police report did not specify the total value of the alleged thefts, the number of incidents, or what items were taken.
Morales was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was booked on a preliminary charge of theft.
A court date was set in Marshall County Superior Court II, and bond was established at $500 cash.
The Plymouth Police Department continues to investigate the case. Additional details about the scope and value of the alleged thefts may be released as the investigation progresses.
The Marshall County Prosecutor's Office will review the case for potential formal charging.
Charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. All suspects are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
