A Plymouth man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly admitted to a theft and then attempted to barricade himself inside his home to avoid arrest on Wednesday, March 18.
According to the Plymouth Police Department, Detective Workman responded to a residence at 1234 Fairbanks Avenue to conduct a follow-up investigation regarding a recent theft. Information gathered during the investigation pointed to 41-year-old Cody Brown, who resides at the address, as a possible suspect.
Upon arriving at the home, Detective Workman made contact with Brown. During their interaction, police say Brown admitted to committing the theft and was found to still be in possession of the stolen property.
However, the situation escalated when Detective Workman attempted to take him into custody. Authorities report that Brown physically pulled away from the detective and attempted to retreat into his house to barricade himself inside.
Additional officers were called to the scene to assist with the situation. Brown was subsequently apprehended and taken into custody.
He was transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was booked on preliminary charges of theft and resisting law enforcement.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
