Plymouth man arrested after 911 hang-up calls lead police to River Park Square

A Plymouth man was arrested early Saturday morning after the Marshall County 911 Center received two hang-up calls that led officers to River Park Square.

At approximately 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, the 911 Center received two 911 hang-up calls from a cell phone. Dispatch attempted to call back but received no answer, so they sent a text message asking if there was an emergency.

The caller, identified as 26-year-old Travis Lee Doty of Plymouth, responded by text saying he was going to hang himself at River Park and that if police came to the park, he would stab them. He then told dispatch to "get a life," according to police.

Doty subsequently texted that he was at the park drinking and said he did not believe it was 911 contacting him. When dispatch advised him that his cell phone had called 911, Doty replied that it was a joke and told officers to come to the park for an altercation, saying he would be under the pavilion.

Officers arrived and located Doty. Police detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person, and a THC vape pen was found in his possession. Doty submitted to a portable breath test, which showed a blood alcohol content of .084%.

Doty was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked on charges of public intoxication and possession of marijuana.
