Plymouth High School Principal Jacob Singleton named IASP District 2 Principal of the Year

Plymouth High School Principal Jacob Singleton has been named District 2 Principal of the Year by the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP), an honor recognizing exceptional leadership and a strong commitment to student success.

Singleton said he was proud and grateful to receive the recognition, especially among so many strong school leaders across the district. He emphasized that the award reflects the collective efforts of the entire Plymouth High School team.

“This award is a reflection of our teachers, staff, and administrative team,” Singleton said. “The work they do every day for our students is what makes our success possible.”

Under Singleton’s leadership, Plymouth High School has continued to focus on high expectations, positive culture, and student-centered decision-making. He believes that strong leadership begins with making people feel valued and empowered.

“The most important part of leadership is making those you lead feel appreciated and giving them ownership in the work we do,” Singleton said.

Even with the recognition, Singleton says his approach to leading the school will not change. He remains focused on continuing the progress already underway and ensuring that every decision is made with students in mind.

“We’ve done a lot of great work, and we still have more to do. We will continue to do what is best for our students,” he said. Singleton also highlighted the importance of consistency, positivity, and modeling high standards for both students and staff.

“Every day, you have to bring a positive attitude and strive for excellence. Leadership means modeling what you expect and embracing a ‘whatever it takes’ mindset.”

Creating a welcoming and supportive school culture has been a key focus during Singleton’s tenure. He said celebrating students and staff and fostering a fun, positive environment helps make Plymouth High School a place people look forward to coming to each day.

He also credited the Plymouth community for its strong support of the school.

“Plymouth is where my family lives and where my children are growing up,” Singleton said. “I’m honored that families trust me to lead this school, and I’m grateful for the support we receive from this community.”

The IASP Principal of the Year recognition honors principals who demonstrate outstanding leadership, dedication to students, and a positive impact on their school communities. Singleton’s selection as District 2 Principal of the Year places him among the top educational leaders in northern Indiana.
