Street paving bids were opened during this week's Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.
Four companies submitted bids for the 8 city street projects and 1 cemetery street project. E & B Paving from Rochester submitted a bid of $700,710 while Rieth Riley Construction out of South Bend presented a bid of $587,402. Milestone Contractors from South Bend offered a bid of $662,299.95 and Niblick Excavating from Bristol proposed a bid of $641,424.75.
Plymouth’s Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt detailed the projects which include West Garro Street from Third Street to Walnut Street, Fourth Street from Garro to Adams, Washington Street from Fifth Street to Third Street, Bayless Street from Alexander to Webster, Miner Street from Webster to Williams, Fourth Street from Lake Avenue to LaPorte Street, Monroe Street from Fifth Street to Broadway and Clinton Street from Chester to South Michigan Street.
Work includes milling and excavation of pavement, pavement undercut, concrete demolition, placement of hot mix asphalt, sidewalk and curb ramp construction, and miscellaneous items specified in the project bid documents.
Bids were taken under advisement for review by the Street Superintendent and City Engineer Dan Sellers. A recommendation will be presented to the Board of Public Works and Safety at their next meeting on Monday, June 24th.
