By Staff report

The source of a general threat concerning several school districts has been found by law enforcement.

The Fulton County Sheriff's Office was notified Wednesday morning by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) regarding a general, nonspecific threat made against a school. While no particular school or suspect was initially identified, the Fulton County Sheriff's Office noted that it took immediate action to ensure the safety of students and staff in the community.

In response to the notification, law enforcement began working in close coordination with the FBI, Indiana State Police, and surrounding law enforcement agencies. As a precaution, all area schools were informed of the potential threat, despite its lack of specific details.

After a coordinated and thorough investigation, law enforcement officials from the FBI, Indiana State Police, Fulton County Sheriff's Office, and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office were able to locate, identify, and interview the individual responsible for making the threats.

At this time, the investigation remains ongoing. However, based on the evidence gathered so far, the threat does not appear to be credible.

Sheriff Travis Heishman issued the following statement:
“I want to personally thank the investigators from our office, the FBI, Indiana State Police, and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office for their swift and professional response. Their collaborative efforts allowed us to quickly identify the source of the threat and assess the situation. The safety of our schools and our community remains our highest priority, and we will continue to monitor this case closely.”
