Perez-Cardenas arrested at Economy Inn for failure to register sex offender registry changes

A sex offender living at the Economy Inn who failed to report a change of address was arrested on Thursday, March 20th.

Denny Jesus Perez-Cardenas, 27, is a registered sex offender having been convicted of Child Solicitation in Marshall County. He is classified as an Offender against Children with a Lifetime requirement to register in person as a sex offender annually as well as within 72 hours of any change of information including but not limited to residence, employment, and phone numbers.

On Thursday, March 20th, Marshall County Police assisted Parole agents with a home visit at the Economy Inn on North Michigan Street. It was discovered that Perez-Cardenas was non-compliant with the sex offender registry having failed to register changing rooms at the Economy Inn.  Perez-Cardenas was also in possession of an unregistered cellular phone and failed to register a change in his employment. He was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail for the crime of failure to register as a sex offender as a level 6 felony.

Perez-Cardenas was held on a $1500 cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made
