The Parke Heritage Middle School Academic Super Bowl teams competed at Sarah Scott Middle School on Saturday, May 3.
With a theme of “Ireland in the 20th Century,” contestants were quizzed on science, social studies, math, English, and interdisciplinary questions based on the theme.
There were 45 middle school teams from across the state that were in Class 4. The team had three squads placing first and one finished with second place ribbons. Placing first at the district contest were the social studies, English and interdisciplinary squads. When state results were released, the social studies squad finished fifth in the state. Team members are Paige Rose, Emelia Chapman, Elijah Thompson, Aiden Nicholas, Stephen Myers, Jacob Martin and Coach Kylie Gates. The English squad of Laney Crowder, Cole McVay and Coach Whitney Anderson placed eighth in the state. The interdisciplinary team placed 14th in the state competition. Team members are Katy Faust, Teagan Pound, Adam Asbury, Stephen Myers, and Cole McVay.
The math squad placed second at the district contest and 15th in the state. Team members are Zoey Blystone, Teagan Pound, Katy Faust and Coach Molly Blystone.
Also competing was the science squad of Madi Ingram, Juliana Wyatt, Madi Schaefer, Sam O’Brien, Adam Asbury, and Coach Haley Roach.
