Tragedy occurred Monday morning in neighboring Wabash County as one man died after being trapped in a grain bin.
The Wabash County Sheriff's Department reports that they received a 9-1-1 call around 9:30 a.m. Monday June 1st in regard to three men being trapped inside a grain bin in the Friendsville area.
Deputies along with emergency fire and medical personnel responded to the location, along with units from Gibson County Indiana.
They arrived on scene and discovered that two of the three men trapped were able to get out safely while a third remained trapped inside. Rescue crews worked feverishly to free that remaining man. At about 1 p.m. he was finally extricated from the grain bin but unfortunately was pronounced dead at the scene by Wabash County Coroner Shaun Keepes. He was identified as 21-year-old Steven Haase of Mt. Carmel.
