Indiana State Fire Marshall’s office is investigating old Decker High School fire
A former Knox County school building has been called a total loss.
The former Decker High School was the site of a Tuesday night fire. Nearly a dozen area departments responded just after 7:30 p.m. They did manage to save the old gym on the property which now houses a sawmill.
The Johnson Township Volunteer Fire Department received aid from Indiana departments from Vincennes Township, Harrison Township, Palmyra Township, White River Township, Princeton Fire Protection Area in Indiana. Denison Township, Lawrence and Allison responded from Illinois.
The Indiana State Fire Marshall’s office is investigating. No injuries were reported.
The building served as a high school until 1967 and as an elementary school until 1999 when it was consolidated into South Knox.
