102nd District Republican State Representative Adam Niemerg has released details of his recent town hall meeting in Newton on the continuing problem of deer eating and damaging crops on farmland.
He indicated that the meeting hosted by the Jasper and Clark County Farm Bureaus brought out some good suggestions on ways to alleviate the problem.
Among the ideas was to extend the hunting seasons for deer, allow more deer hunting permits in the district counties and creation of a deer removal permit.
The removal permit would give a farmer or landowner 30 days to designate two people to take action to remove deer on their property or properties.
Neimerg said he would continue to work with the Farm Bureau and local farmers and hunters on solutions.
