Newberry and Verch Coming to the REES in Plymouth

In collaboration with The Wild Rose Moon, musicians Joe Newberry and April Verch will be appearing on stage at The REES Theatre Saturday evening, March 24 at 7:00 p.m.

Joe Newberry is a Missouri native and North Carolina transplant who has played music most of his life. His powerful and innovative banjo playing, as well as his songwriting, guitar skills, fiddling, and singing has delighted audiences around the world.

Newberry was a frequent guest on Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion, and in addition to his solo and studio work he plays and teaches at festivals and workshops in North America and abroad.

Since 2016, April Verch has been performing in a duo with Joe Newberry.  While best known for her deep expertise in the distinctive Ottawa Valley fiddle and step dancing styles, there is far more to her story. Throughout her childhood, April played both old time fiddle and classical violin, regularly performing with the Deep River Symphony Orchestra. Her step dancing career began even earlier, at age three.

Verch began her full time touring career in 2000 and has performed internationally, as well as having presented workshops, master classes and lectures as part of her tours and at selected music camps.

General admission is $20.00 or $45.00 for balcony seats with a meet and greet prior to the performance.

Wild Rose Moon’s mission is to provide a dynamic cultural center for the community by hosting and producing the performing arts, educational ideas, and cultural events in Historic Downtown Plymouth.
