New Angel Reese Special celebrates McDonald’s hoops fandom, puts a spotlight on women athletes

McDonald’s and basketball go way back. From classic commercials with hoop legends to 40+ years of showcasing the nation’s best ballers at the McDonald’s All American Games, we’re all about elevating the game for our fans. That’s why starting Feb. 10, we’re upping the score by partnering with basketball champion, entrepreneur and fashion icon Angel Reese to drop The Angel Reese Special: a BBQ Bacon Quarter Pounder®* with Cheese featuring a new Bold BBQ Sauce, World Famous Fries® and a choice of drink.

This team-up is all about celebrating greatness – marking McDonald’s first national meal collab with a female athlete – and shining a light on the next generation of superstars.

“McDonald’s has always been a big part of my life, from grabbing a McChicken® Sandwich as a kid to being named a McDonald’s All American in 2020,” said Reese. “It’s really a dream come true to be the first-ever female athlete to have my own meal and be a part of McDonald’s amazing basketball legacy. I hope the Angel Reese Special inspires young athletes everywhere to never give up on pursuing their dreams.”

Influenced by Angel’s boldly original style and swag, The Angel Reese Special is a saucy trifecta that blends sweet, savory and a touch of spice. The smoky Bold BBQ Sauce is a gamechanger that takes the QPC to the next level, adding a fresh twist on its classic ingredients. But this collab goes beyond flavor. We're dropping more heat soon, including content that pays tribute to McDonald's hoops history while highlighting sports legends and rising stars alike.

“There’s a real connection between McDonald’s and basketball fans,” said Jennifer “JJ” Healan, Vice President of Marketing, Brand, Content & Culture at McDonald's. “We want to continue to fuel their love for the game and support athletes on and off the court.  We’re excited to bring our legacy with basketball culture to a new generation, and partnering with Angel is only the beginning.”

We're delivering our A-game all year long with programs that inspire fans and build upon our bond with the basketball community. In the meantime, tap into your championship energy by grabbing the Angel Reese Special via the McDonald’s App, in-restaurant and the Drive Thru at participating U.S. restaurants starting Feb. 10, while supplies last.
