An officer with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Michigan City woman just after midnight Wednesday, November 6th for speeding.
At approximately 12:30 A.M., Officer Wozniak witnessed a black 2012 Nissan passenger car southbound on North Michigan Street at Baker Street. The car was traveling at 81 MPH in a posted 35 MPH zone.
Officer Wozniak got behind the vehicle and activated his emergency lights, but the vehicle failed to stop. The vehicle disregarded many red traffic lights southbound on Michigan Street with the officer in pursuit. At the intersection of Michigan Street and Oakhill Avenue the female was taken into custody.
The driver, Brianna Ellis, 31, of Michigan City, was found to be under the influence of alcohol. She refused testing, and a search warrant was completed, showing her blood alcohol to be over three times the legal limit. She was booked in the Marshall County Jail for resisting law enforcement, resisting with a vehicle, operating with a BAC of .15 or more, reckless driving, and disorderly conduct and held on a $1,500 cash bond.
