Relay for Life is celebrating 40 years this year, and Marshall County Relay for Life is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The Relay for Life event for Marshall County will be held at River Park Square this Saturday, September 27th, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with the opening ceremony, followed by the survivors' lap. During the evening, there will be music and food for purchase, along with a Silent Auction filled with wonder baskets of goodies and many lovely items such as prints of Kyle Schwarber and Ron Santo, a ceramic garden worm, afghans, cross-stitch framed pictures, Rainbow dolls, 31 items, a money tree, and gift cards from various businesses. The Silent Auction runs from 5:30 to 8.
Luminaries are available for a $5 donation to Relay for Life. You can decorate your own bag or select one that is already decorated. The luminaries are a way to honor someone who has survived their battle with cancer or remember a loved one who lost their battle. Luminaries will line the walking path at 9 p.m. for a special luminary ceremony.
The closing ceremony and announcement of the funds raised will take place at 10 p.m.
Everyone has been touched by cancer, and everyone is welcome to join the celebration. You don’t have to be on a team to participate.
