A 50-year-old Marshall County man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after a traffic stop revealed he had never obtained a driver's license.

Deputy Alex Truty with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department conducted a traffic stop just before 5 p.m. on February 24 near the intersection of U.S. 30 and King Road after observing a moving violation.

During the investigation, Deputy Truty discovered that the driver, David A. Winship Jr., did not have a valid license.

Winship was transported to the Marshall County Jail and charged with operating a motor vehicle without ever receiving a license. He was held on a $100 bond.

Charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed. Winship is presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and is entitled to be represented by counsel and to a trial by jury, at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
