Spring festivities are going to the dogs this year. The Marshall County Humane Society is inviting local pet owners to sign up their furry friends for a special Dog Easter Egg Hunt.

For a $10 registration fee per dog, each pup—or family of dogs—will be assigned their own private, fenced-in yard for a 20-minute hunt. The rules are simple: any plastic egg a dog sniffs or touches with their paws can be added to their basket. All eggs will be stuffed with dog-friendly treats, and some will contain special tokens that can be traded in for a toy at the prize table.

Beyond the hunt, the event promises fun for the whole family. Attendees can snap photos with the Easter Bunny, utilize a dedicated selfie booth, shop at a bake sale, and enjoy various snacks and refreshments. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet and interact with adoptable cats and dogs looking for their forever homes.

In a heartwarming twist, the fun won't stop when the public's time slots end. After 4 p.m., once all registered dogs have had their turn, the Marshall County Humane Society will bring out its adoptable shelter dogs to enjoy their very own egg hunt. Attendees are welcome and encouraged to stick around to cheer on the shelter pups.

To ensure a safe and family-friendly environment, organizers have established strict safety protocols. All dogs must remain leashed until they are securely inside their designated fenced area. Additionally, owners are asked to leave their dogs in their vehicles while they check in and receive their yard assignment, as not all dogs in attendance may be comfortable around other pets.

Pet owners must call the shelter at 574-936-8300 in advance to reserve a specific time slot.

The Humane Society is also actively seeking volunteers to help run the event. Those interested in volunteering can call the shelter or reach out via email at marshallcountyhumanesociety@gmail.com.
