The Marshall County Historical Society will host its first Genealogy Summit for Beginners on Jan. 31, for individuals interested in learning how to trace their family history.

The daylong event is designed to teach participants how to research their roots, uncover family stories, and navigate genealogical records across generations.

Three experienced teachers and genealogists will lead classes covering the fundamentals of genealogical research. Sessions will include instruction on basic genealogical charts, forms, and terminology, as well as guidance on locating accurate information about ancestors from both common and unusual sources.

Participants will also learn how to utilize websites and online services to add depth and context to their family narratives, helping bring historical records to life.

The summit is open to anyone ages 12 and older. The $35 registration fee includes lunch and class materials.

Registration is available at the Marshall County Museum, located at 123 North Michigan Street in Plymouth, or online at mchistoricalsociety.org.
