Marshall County Deputy makes 3 arrests in 2 days on drug, license charges

Marshall County Sheriff deputy Truty made three arrests over two days this week, with two involving marijuana possession and a third resulting in a charge of driving without ever obtaining a license.

The first arrest came on Tuesday, June 2, at approximately 10:30 p.m., when a deputy conducted a traffic stop on Oak Road north of U.S. 30 for an equipment violation. During the investigation, the passenger, identified as Dakota W. Elder, 30, was found to have marijuana. Elder was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked on a possession of marijuana charge. His bond was set at $500.

Less than 24 hours later, on Wednesday, June 3, at approximately 6:58 p.m., a deputy initiated a traffic stop on U.S. 31 near State Road 110 for a moving violation. The driver, identified as Noelle D. West, 21, was also found to have marijuana. West was taken to the Marshall County Jail on the same charge and issued a $250 bond.

Later that same evening, at approximately 9:22 p.m., a deputy stopped another vehicle for an equipment violation. The driver, Jose De La Fuente Villalon, was found to be operating the vehicle without ever having obtained a driver's license. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked on that charge, with a bond set at $100.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
