Marshall County Auditor Angie Johnson Birchmeier has been selected to serve on the Association of Indiana Counties (AIC) Legislative Committee for 2026, adding another statewide leadership role to an already distinguished career in public service.

Birchmeier also currently serves as Treasurer of the Indiana Auditors' Association and as Chairperson of its Legislative Committee — making her one of the more prominent county-level officials in the state in shaping legislative priorities for local government.

The AIC Legislative Committee held its initial kick-off meeting on Friday, June 26th. The committee is made up of a diverse cross-section of local officials, including clerks, commissioners, highway superintendents, and surveyors, with a focus on collaboration and unified advocacy for local government interests across Indiana.

Birchmeier has served the public for nearly 30 years. She spent two decades working for the City of Plymouth before being elected Marshall County Treasurer in 2016 and subsequently elected Auditor in 2022. Throughout her tenure, she has remained focused on accuracy, transparency, and sound financial stewardship on behalf of local taxpayers.

A lifelong Marshall County resident, Birchmeier is a graduate of Plymouth High School and Indiana University South Bend. She and her husband, Jeff, live in the community where they raised their son, Gage, who recently completed his first year of college.

Birchmeier expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to advocate for local government at the state level.

"AIC does great work for counties throughout Indiana, and to be chosen to serve on the AIC Legislative Committee is an honor," she said. "I look forward to being part of a solution to help the voices of local government to be heard."
