A man died while operating a tractor in Hendricks County on Thursday.
About 7:30 p.m., Hendricks County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of a deceased person in the 4300 block of North SR 75, just south of North Salem.
The department's preliminary investigation indicates that a witness observed his neighbor’s tractor running with the headlights on, but no one was visible on the seat of the tractor operating it. When the witness went to investigate, he observed an unresponsive man stuck underneath the frame of the tractor.
The witness immediately dialed 911, but the man, who was later identified as Benjamin Love, 49, of Lizton, was pronounced dead at the scene. Love was the owner of the property where the incident occurred. He and his family were still living near Lizton while they prepared to establish a home at the North Salem property.
The Hendricks County Sheriff's Office and Coroner’s Office are investigating the incident. No foul play is suspected at this time.
