Saturday’s Relay for Life of Marshall County was “the best one in last three years,” according to Joan Hunt. She said, “It was so uplifting, and the new teams did so well.”
Relay For Life is a global movement that raises money for cancer research and support services while also celebrating cancer survivors and remembering loved ones lost to cancer.
Saturday evening, hundreds gathered for the annual event in River Park Square. This year’s event was from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and included a special luminary ceremony with more than 300 luminary bags being lit for walkers to enjoy.
While this year’s Relay for Life of Marshall County surpassed their $25,000 goal with $33,370, they aren’t quite done. A chicken noodle fundraiser will be the last fundraiser for the year on Thursday, September 26th. Relay hopes to raise about $3,000 with this fundraiser. Tickets are $12 and include chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, a dinner roll, and a cookie. The drive-thru fundraiser will be from 4 to 6 p.m. at Bob’s Cafeteria Food Truck on East Jefferson Street. Tickets are still available by calling Joan Hunt at 574-229-2846.
The 2025 Relay for Life of Marshall County event is set for Saturday, September 27th, in River Park Square. This will mark the county’s 30th year fighting cancer with a Relay for Life walk.
Fundraising for the 2025 year begins with the Daffodils sale in March.
