On Friday, Feb. 28, Brittnie Kanschat, 41, of Leiters Ford, was taken into custody by detectives with the Starke County Sheriff’s Department. Her arrest stems from a burglary and homicide investigation that began in December 2024 in North Judson.
Timothy Minix was arrested and charged with the murder of his father, Landin Minix, on Dec. 7, 2024. Kanschat and Minix were found to be in a dating relationship at the time of the crime.
Throughout the investigation, detectives obtained evidence that suggested Kanschat assisted Minix in the burglary of Landin Minix’s home. As a result, she was detained and a report was provided to the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office. A formal charge of assisting a criminal, a Level 5 felony, was filed by the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office.
Kanschat is currently being held at the Starke County Justice Center on a $10,000 cash bond.
