The Bridgeport Fire Protection District (BFPD) has announced that Rick Leighty is stepping down after 38 years of service as a firefighter.
He began back in February of 1988 and served as a Lieutenant, Captain, Assistant Chief and most recently as Chief beginning in 2007. His final day will be Saturday, February 28th. Ashley Ryan has been appointed as the new Chief of the BFPD and will assume the duties on that date.
Leighty plans to spend more time with his family and enjoy retirement.
