The city of Lawrenceville has announced it has received another violation notice regarding its Wastewater Treatment Plant. The notice resulted from an inspection made by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency IEPA) in mid-September of 2025.
In a statement released this week, city officials say they will not dispute any of the findings in the violation notice and are currently working with an engineering firm to formulate a formal response.
The IEPA has provided the city with recommendations to help attain compliance and it will collaborate with the engineering firm to implement the recommended courses of action to meet environmental requirements. Mayor David Courtney says that the city will continue its contact with the IEPA to improve the plant operations.
The notice of violation can be found on the city website: lawrencevilleil.gov.
