The LaPaz-North Township Fire Protection Territory Executive Committee will be holding a public meeting on Wednesday, July 24, at 6:00 pm. The meeting location is 411 South Michigan Street in LaPaz, the LaPaz-North Twp. Fire Station.
Agenda items include a Discussion regarding the election of the Fire Chief by the LaPaz-North Township Fire Department; a discussion regarding the proposed annual budget; along with a discussion regarding employee policies, scheduling the next meeting, and any other items necessary and about fire territory.
On July 11th the Department of Local Government Finance made its final determination for the establishment of an initial maximum levy for a fire protection territory. The conclusion states that the DLGF finds that the LaPaz-North Fire Territory complies with the procedural obligations under the Indiana Code in establishing the Territory. The units published notices, conducted required public hearings, made information available to the public, and adopted identical ordinances in the timeframe of the Indiana Code.
The DLGF also found that the units provided information sufficient to account for the territory’s calculation of an operating fund's initial maximum levy.
Therefore, the DLGF approved an initial max levy for the LaPaz North Twp. Fire Territory operating fund in the amount of $1,289,916 for pay-2025. This amount is equal to the proposed pay-2025 fire territory operating fund budget of $1,248,080 less miscellaneous revenue of $65,400.
