Drivers traveling U.S. 31 between the U.S. 20/31 bypass and Kern Road should expect delays beginning Tuesday, July 28, as construction work gets underway in the area.
INDOT contractor Michiana Contracting, Inc. will implement alternating lane closures along that stretch to allow for overhead box truss installations. At least one lane in each direction will remain open throughout the project. The ramp from Kern Road to U.S. 31 northbound will also be subject to lane closures during the work.
INDOT is asking motorists to plan ahead and allow extra travel time when passing through the area. Drivers are reminded to slow down, stay focused, and follow all posted traffic control directions in the work zone.
No estimated completion date was provided. For updates on this and other INDOT construction projects, visit indot.carsprogram.org.
