On March 27th, 2023, around 5:20 in the afternoon the Marshall County Central Dispatch Center received a 911 call advising of a vehicle all over the roadway. Plymouth Police officers were dispatched to the area of Hoham Drive and North Michigan Street.
Officer Ayala with the Plymouth Police Department located the suspect vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and a traffic stop was initiated. The driver failed to stop and eventually pulled into the Walmart parking lot.
Margareta Ghebenei, 42, of Knox, was found to be operating the vehicle. Margareta was transported to Plymouth Hospital for a chemical test. At the conclusion of the test, Margareta was found to be over three times the legal limit for alcohol. She was transported to Marshall County Jail where she was booked for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated .15% or higher and OWI-Endangerment.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
