A juvenile has found himself behind bars in a local juvenile detention center after making threats against Parke Heritage Schools.
According to a report from the Parke County Sheriff's Department, a deputy investigated a threat of gun violence on Wednesday by a student. A thorough investigation and partnership with the school district resulted in the arrest of a 14 year old male in connection to the threats.
"There is no credible threat at this time to the public or students, faculty and staff of the school," the deputy wrote in his report.
North Central Parke Community Schools Superintendent Mike Schimpf told GIANT fm WAXI and the Parke County Post that the district takes every threat seriously.
"I can say that we take all threats seriously, and work collaboratively with law enforcement to substantiate or work through any perceived safety concerns for our students," Schimpf said.
Parke County Sheriff Jason Frazier is asking anyone with any information about any threats to the county's schools to notify his department immediately.
