Joshua Carroll flees from police three times Tuesday night

A man who fled from Sheriff’s deputies three times — once after being held at gunpoint is currently in the Marshall County Jail.

On Tuesday at approximately 9 p.m., Marshall County Sheriff’s Department deputies were requested to respond to a residence in the 5,000 block of Michigan Road for an unwanted guest. The caller said the male was intoxicated, being aggressive, and then began driving up and down the road, revving his vehicle’s engine.

A Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived, and 38-year-old Joshua Carroll of the 500 block of North Michigan Road fled from the vehicle on foot. Deputies located Joshua behind a residence, but he fled from law enforcement again.

The Sheriff’s Department’s drone and K-9 Unit were utilized to search for Carroll. While still searching for Joshua at approximately 1 a.m., the Marshall County Central Dispatch received a call from a resident in the 6,000 block of Lilac Road advising of an unknown male subject pounding on their door.

The caller believed the male subject was under the influence and provided a description matching that of Carroll. While law enforcement was responding, the caller told the dispatch center that the male had become aggressive and was now being pinned down and held at gunpoint.

The male subject fled the scene before law enforcement’s arrival. The Sheriff’s Department drone and K-9 Unit were utilized again to search for the male, and a short time later, K-9 Diesel located Carroll hiding underneath heavy machinery equipment in a construction yard nearby.

Diesel was utilized to apprehend Carroll after he refused to comply with law enforcement commands.

Carroll was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Plymouth Hospital ER by LaPaz EMS to be treated for his injuries and to undergo a chemical test. He was found to be over twice the legal limit of alcohol.

Carroll was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked for operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction as a level 6 felony, resisting law enforcement as a Class A misdemeanor, and public intoxication as a class B misdemeanor. He is being held on a $1,500 cash bond.

The Plymouth Police Department, LaPaz EMS, and Lyon Wrecker Service assisted the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
